Experience

As a Principal in the Personal Financial Services Group, George Pope brings over 20 years of public accounting experience and 12 years of industry experience to the firm. He has significant experience with partnerships, S-corporations, exempt organizations, fiduciary, estate and individual tax planning and compliance management in a variety of industries including real estate, construction, professional services and technology.

George is responsible for providing expertise to the Tax Department in areas of individual, estates, trusts, and public and private foundations tax planning and compliance in addition to serving high net worth individual clients and their family groups.

Most recently, George held the position of Tax Senior Manager at Deloitte managing all aspects of client relations in individual income, estate, and gift tax planning and compliance. He also served clients in the area of estates, trusts, and public and private foundations.

George practiced law in North Carolina from 1990 through 1992, and worked in the Trust Department of Bank of America (formerly, NationsBank and NCNB) as a Vice President and Trust Officer for five years. While there, he advised clients on estate administration, estate planning and served private foundations.
