FD Women Business Leadership Initiative Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Program supports women executives and women business owners as they pursue business and professional goals

September 24, 2015 Atlanta, GA. Frazier & Deeter announced today that the firm’s Women Business Leadership Initiative has reached its fifth year as one of the firm’s areas of focus.

The Frazier & Deeter Women’s Business Leadership Program was created in 2010 to support women business leaders and women business owners in pursuing their professional and business goals. The program supports these women by providing financial support and educational content to organizations that support women executives or women-led businesses. The program also provides opportunities for women to develop new business contacts that will help them achieve business goals.

A report published in August of 2015 by the National Women’s Business Council validates the growing trend of women-owned businesses in the United States. The report analyzed the most recent census data that is available and found the number of women-owned businesses had increased by over 27% in five years, to nearly 10 million businesses. The wages women-owned businesses paid employees increased by 35% in the same time period, to $290 billion. The NWBC also reports that women-owned businesses are adding jobs at a much faster rate of 19% than businesses owned by men, which grew at 11%.

“The Frazier & Deeter Women Business Leadership Program began as we recognized the growing population of women-led businesses,” said Seth McDaniel, Managing Partner at Frazier & Deeter. “It was a natural area of focus for a firm that helps many entrepreneurial businesses navigate emerging business issues as they grow.”

“It’s exciting to see the momentum the program has developed in the first five years,” said LeighAnn Costley, Tax Partner with Frazier & Deeter and one of the leaders of the program. “We’ve been able to support a growing array of initiatives that have had a strong impact on the growth of women-led businesses.”

The cornerstone of Frazier & Deeter’s Women Business Leaders Program is a series of events the firm organizes that focus on business leadership topics such as driving business growth and leading a successful executive team. These events feature successful women business owners and executives who share their real-world experiences and advice with women who aspire to reach greater heights in their careers.

In addition to the events Frazier & Deeter produces, the firm sponsors organizations that help women executives enhance leadership skills and drive business results. Examples include LaunchPad2x, an educational program that teaches women entrepreneurs about topics such as negotiation, intellectual property law and attracting investors, while transitioning from founder to CEO; and Working Women of Tampa Bay.

“It’s particularly exciting to see the results of LaunchPad2x. Nationally 90% of all startups fail in the first three years. The LaunchPad2x graduates far exceed expectations – 94% are still in business. Even better, 12% have now surpassed $1 million in revenue while graduates have seen average growth of 300% per year for their businesses,” noted Kris Spain, Audit Partner and one of the leaders of the Frazier & Deeter Women Business Leadership Program. “Those are the types of results that we want this program to drive.”

“We are proud to have Frazier & Deeter as a partner in our efforts to support and nurture women-owned businesses in Tampa Bay,” said Jessica Rivelli, founder of the Working Women of Florida. “Corporate involvement is critical to elevating and educating female entrepreneurs and executives and tapping into the economic potential of the businesses they lead.”
Frazier & Deeter has also been recognized as a top firm for women CPAs. Project MOVE, an initiative co-sponsored by the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) and American Women’s Society of CPAs (AWSCPA), named Frazier & Deeter a Best Firm for Women’s Leadership Equity in 2014.
