Experience
As a Senior Manager in the Tax Group, Preston Porterfield’s responsibilities include providing comprehensive tax planning, consulting and compliance services to publicly and privately held corporations. His industry expertise is concentrated in the areas of technology, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, software, and the manufacturing and distribution industries

Preston has extensive experience in accounting methods, international taxation and tax planning, FAS 109, FIN 48, revenue recognition issues, and IRS controversy.

Preston brings a unique background and more than 10 years of experience to the firm. Prior to joining Frazier & Deeter in 2008, he spent over 6 years with a Big Four firm and another two years with a local firm. During this time, Preston primarily assisted midmarket multinational private and public companies with their tax consulting and compliance needs. He also spent two years examining business entity tax returns while serving as a revenue agent in the Large and Mid-Size Business Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). While at the IRS, Preston was a member of a national team focused on assisting IRS examination teams with tax accrual work paper issues and also assisted with the IRS’s preparation of procedures regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
