Tax Partner J.R. Miller is a member of Frazier & Deeter’s Executive Management Committee and is active in the firm’s Manufacturing & Distribution Industry Group. He has over 30 years of experience and specializes in a variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing & distribution and technology.

J.R.’s corporate tax expertise has allowed him to structure and assist clients with mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, ESOPs and corporate finance transactions. Many of his clients are middle-market companies that are privately owned or private equity backed. He has been instrumental in helping clients effectively manage their tax liabilities using strategies such as LIFO for inventory accounting, Research & Development Tax Credits for new technologies & manufacturing processes, state & local tax incentives for growing companies, IC-Discs for export companies, cost segregation studies for added tax depreciation deductions, ESOP structuring & implementation and international structuring to minimize taxes by jurisdictions.

J.R. is frequently involved with conflict resolution matters, representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service as well as throughout the audit process. He has successfully drafted private letter ruling requests, voluntary disclosure agreements, offers in compromise and applications for change in accounting method for clients.
