MELISSA C. HERBERT, CPA
Experience Prior to joining Frazier & Deeter, Ms. Herbert was with the Employee Benefit Plan Group of Deloitte & Touche LLP in Atlanta. While at Deloitte & Touche, Missy was the director in charge of the employee benefit plan group in Atlanta and Birmingham. She also served as on a five-person employee benefit plan national board at Deloitte & Touche in which responsibilities included the development of the firm's benefit plan training materials and audit methodology surrounding the benefit plan industry. Her in-depth ERISA background made Missy the go to individual in the Southeast region with regards to audits issues discovered during plan audits. Ms. Herbert specializes in audits of qualified defined contribution, defined benefit, and health and welfare plans, including extensive experience auditing plans required to file an annual 11-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Her clients have included public and private plans ranging in size from 100 to 300,000 participants, with assets ranging from $ 1 million to $10 billion. Ms. Herbert is also the firm's director of audit quality. In this role, she is responsible for researching complex accounting and auditing issues, assisting with internal and external peer review, conducting professional staff training courses, and assisting engagement teams with new client opportunities. Missy is dedicated to providing exceptional client service by tailoring the audit approach to meet the specific needs of each engagement. Missy has spoken at the Georgia Society of CPAs Annual Southeast Accounting Conference and was an annual speaker at the Deloitte & Touche National Employee Benefit Plan Services Group Forum.
